Oi oi and welcome to our collective’s new blogspace, you can follow us by clicking here for now. As you might of noticed we’ve joined our hometown’s activist collective. Why you ask? Why not! Furthermore we’re evolving here at Anonymous with new members, gig locations and organising structures; so keep your eyes peeled for more of the same!
Enough about us though, first up on Thursday 17th we’re showing solidarity with local comrades organising the second ever Taunton Vegan Fayre. It’d be safe to say we’ve ALL been eating free vegan food at gigs for many months, so it’d rude not to show a little support in return! That’s why we’ve got NOFX-style skacore-punk from The Liabilities, grunge punks Mouth returning, as well as debut shows from Axminster punks Bare Bones and toytown’s acoustic soloist Jake Van Perlo.
Just two days later we’re then hitting Bristol with a bit of a mad one for all you bass addicts! Dub The Earth + Chris Bowsher (RDF) including DJ’s from Kebele Sound, Shuddervision and Skankingdubbeats will be pumping out dub from 10pm till 3am+ at The Lab Bar, Bristol. That’s right, we’ve teamed up with South West Against Nuclear (SWAN) amongst others as a benefit for the Stop Nuclear Power Network. So put that in your Hinkley C pipe and smoke it!
April is another exciting month for us as we merge again with our sister organisation Old Hat Promotions and new allies SWAN to bring you our first Bridgwater benefit at Unity House. Raising funds again for much needed direct action against Hinkley Point, we’re putting on anarcha-feminist punk-rocker Rita Lynch, supported by Devonshire punk-rock Room 4 1 More, Chard based anarcho-punk Rat Bandits and local grunge-punk Shavin Mavis. Like the sound of Anonymous spreading to Bridgwater? Then come along, show your support and please help us promote the event which takes place on Sautrday 9th.
What about May? It’s going to be our most diverse month yet! We’re kick starting with a Taunton fundraiser and warm up show for Bristol Anarchist Bookfair on Thursday 5th with bands tbc, followed by a stall with our activist buddies two days later. We’ve also organised some unplugged acoustic from Cut Cameron sick-note Some Sort of Threat, as well as Dane Howells, Jake Van Perlo and more tbc at the Vegan Fayre on Saturday 14th. So instead of having food served to gig goers, we’ll be serving some acoustic to food fanatics for a change!
To round off the month on Saturday 28th we’re taking another trip to Bridgwater with Old Hat to raise funds for fight–ing the public sector cuts, as a benefit for Taunton Activist Collective. Skacore legends Officer Down will finally be making it to Somerset, after cancelling in December due to atrocious weather conditions. They are playing with south-west chaotic skacore Po-lice, Ilminster’s notorious duo 51st State and Shavin Mavis again.
